I have no memory of a time when I didn’t want to be a filmmaker. From as early as kindergarten, I found it to be a very special way for me to channel my creative outbursts across all different media. Perhaps my father’s interest in computers is what inspired me to develop mainly as an editor; but at heart, I am a storyteller.
The stories I feel compelled to share have always been the core of my personal and professional development; that’s why I never doubted that my future was in entertainment, whether as a director or a curtain raiser.

Ratman
Ratman has been my biggest experiment to date. By its very nature, it was an amateur project: it follows a story I created with my friends in middle-school, and which is very dear to us all. As I have come closer and closer to the industry in recent years, it occurred to me that this might be my last chance to see it through.
This realisation came in a transitional period where I was starting to develop as a professional, adopting many odd convictions about the art and craft of filmmaking. Conscious of how my creative freedom would diminish as I approached the industry, I decided to use Ratman as a platform to experiment with all of those ideas.
Perhaps the most disruptive of them was my scepticism of the gigantic budgets normally employed in film productions. With Ratman, I have sought to find the limits of modern no-budget filmmaking, coinciding with an unprecedented revolution of the craft in the popularisation of AI.
The result has been strikingly positive – an impressive middle step between amateur high-school parodies, and the cinema I want to create professionally. I have always been an optimist, but this was something else. Visually, it has surpassed all expectations and opened the door to a future career in which every imaginable project feels within my reach.

All of this extracurricular development paid off when I managed to land a freelance gig with composer and vocalist Rachel Hardy. This was a very special thing for me as it was my first-ever job, and Rachel is a creator I had followed and admired for a few years.
I made her a social media short promoting her cover of Ramsey’s “Goodbye” from Arcane, based on an edit she had already made. Gathering clips from the first three episodes of the show, I first enhanced the resolution of her own edit, and then made three more versions of my own for her to choose from. I even implemented some sound design in the later ones to enhance the storytelling, taking the conscious risk of undermining her track which was the ultimate product behind the video.
However, like me, Rachel found that rather than take away from her music, it complemented it. She appreciated my diligence and was extremely pleased with the result, and has since employed me as an editor whenever she has required it.

Gracia is my lifelong friend, and it was very flattering for her to trust me with her music video as I know her entire music career is a passion project, and she is very protective of it.
Naturally, I took great care to put her own vision at the forefront of the production; it was a great learning experience for me at a time when I had never served any director other than myself. Her joy of the end product means a lot, both as a professional and as a friend.
